Productivity tip: The power of Post-Its

I first learned the power of using Post-It Notes when analyzing the data from a usability test. In a team of five people, we each extracted the data we saw (one point each) to Post-Its.  Then we could begin to place these data from multiple sources into categories and identify patterns.

Since that first time, I have used mapping with Post-Its to map my own research projects, to develop business plans with up to 10 people collaborating, and more.  The Power of the Post-It helps the data emerge into meaning while limiting individual bias and agendas.  I still love the tactile experience of using paper Post-Its in a room of collaborators, but more often now, we use this same process with virtual Post-Its.  My favorite tool for this is Miro, but there are probably other tools that perform similarly.

Use the Power of Post-Its to efficiently identify patterns of importance for your organization.
