How might the future of artificial intelligence transform the remote workplace?

I recently read a book that is coming out shortly:  Augmentation Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Technical Communication: Designing Ethical Futures by Duin and Perdersen.  This book is a treasure trove of resources for considering how to design for the future.  And it got me thinking about how some of the developing tech might affect the remote workplace–not just how these technologies will augment the work of humans but how these technologies might become a part of the workforce themselves.  Think digital humans.  How will managers need to prepare to lead a workforce of human and non-human personnel?  How will human team members interact with non-human members?

Consider just few ways that augmentation technologies (AT), artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality (AR) could affect the remote workplace:

  • Augmentation technologies (physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional) will extend human abilities and make the workplace more accessible.
  • AR will enable a mixing of physical and virtual spaces so that humans working at a distance will be more present with one another.
  • International standards for AI and human actors will develop.
  • Collaboration tools will become more sophisticated.
  • Defined rights and accessibility will change.

We will be exploring this frontier of office culture much more in future posts, but in the meantime, visit fabricofdigitallife.com.  This content repository can help you better understand emerging tech.
