Online training resources for upskilling your virtual and remote knowledge

In March 2020, many employees and managers were sent to work from home without any planning or specific training related to how to be successful with remote work. This transition certainly would have benefited from some initial training related to virtual and remote work. Notably, there are some free online resources that can be helpful to anyone looking to get started on their virtual or remote journey.

One free resource for technology training is Trailhead by Salesforce. Specifically, this online tool offers background and training in combination with assessment in relation to a number of technology topics. Specific “trails” related to virtual and remote work knowledge and skills include:

1 ) Develop a Virtual Strategy for Your Business

This trail covers virtual meeting setup, virtual collaboration, virtual events and virtual whiteboarding.

2) Succeed from Anywhere During COVID-19

This trail covers personal productivity, self motivation, best practices for working from home, and effective emailing tips.

After creating an account, users can walk through the lessons and assessment activities offered by Trailhead. Individual accomplishments are recognized through the use of Salesforce badges that can be earned and shared on individual LinkedIn profiles.

As remote and hybrid work is adopted across different organizations and industries, investment into the development of team knowledge and skills related to remote work best practices is going to be critical. The free online trails presented by Trailhead offer a useful starting point to provide teams with some initial background on virtual and remote work.
